Herdade do Rocim "Amphora" White Wine
A Portuguese stunner that sits dry and firm on the palate. The use of amphora (talhas) was a method practiced by the Romans 2,000 years ago, and Herdade do Rocim takes the use of amphora wine making to new heights. An award winner for 30 years, proves that 3 generations of wine makers were on the right track. Since the grapes are ancient and slow ripening, they’re picked towards the end of September. The terroir, in good years, will express wines with fresh minerals and elegance. Herbaceous spice aromas give way to a round flavor of tea leaves and white flowers and the finish is surprisingly refreshing. This slightly fruity, consistently acidic white will go wonderfully with salty, pungent finger foods such as olives.
